<h2 id="toc1">Summary</h2>
XNAT 1.5 included a variety of improvements with a strong focus on the
ability to import data into an XNAT server. It addressed several common
complaints with XNAT:
[list][*]Ability to archive and access Multiframe DICOM data[list][*]Multiframe
data is now supported by XNAT. We are still fine tuning how some of the
specific headers should be persisted, but this will be an ongoing
process.[/list][*]Improve performance of the Uploader Applet[list][*]The
uploader applet has been refactored to send DICOM data over HTTP
(rather than the DICOM protocol). It uploads data scan by scan as zips
to improve reliability.[/list][*]Rewrite the Prearchive management UI[list][*]The Prearchive UI has been completely rewritten to support sorting, filtering and bulk actions.[/list][*]Add Restful api for managing the preachive contents[list][*]The prearchive is now accessible and manageable via the REST api.[/list][*]Allow merging of new content into existing sessions[list][*]Users
should be able to upload additional data to existing sessions, without
eliminating pre-existing data. This includes adding new scans to
existing sessions, and new files to existing scand.[/list][*]Incorporate DICOM server functionality into XNAT itself[list][*]The XNAT server should support the receipt and storage of DICOM data sent via DICOM C-STORE.[/list][*]Improve installation customizability[list][*]Admins can now add installation specific libraries and servlets without modifying the XNAT source content.[/list][*]Add a user cache space for temporary storage of user files (via REST)[list][*]Users can now upload data into a user specific cache space via REST, for usage later on.[/list][*]Introduced [url=http://docs.xnat.org/1.5+Services]services [/url]to the XNAT RESTful API.[/list]

Current XNAT distribution (WU_HARVARD_1.3):
xnat.tar.gz or xnat.zip

The distribution includes:

* An installation package
* Source code (xdat-source.jar)

XNAT UPGRADE (WU_HARVARD_1.3):
xnat_upgrade_1_3.tar.gz or xnat_upgrade_1_3.zip

Instructions:

* Extract the package into your pre-existing xnat folder (i.e. xnat_1_1/xnat_update_1_3)
* Go to the command prompt in the XNAT_HOME folder.
* run 'xnat_update_1_3/upgrade.sh' or 'xnat_update_1_3\upgrade.bat'
* delete the pre-built deployment (i.e. deployments/PROJECT)
* run 'bin/setup.sh' or 'bin\setup.bat'
* run 'bin/generate-update-sql.sh' or 'bin\generate-update-sql.bat'
* Execute the generated SQL file in your database (deployments/PROJECT/sql/*-update.sql)
* Load the generated WAR file (deployments/PROJECT/target/*.war) into your TOMCAT installation.
