Tool/Resource: IIT Human Brain Atlas (v.5.0)

Version 4.0 of the IIT Human Brain Atlas was released on 5/15/2015. The newest additions to the atlas include probabilistic HARDI connectivity-based 4D white matter labels, as well as confidence maps of major fiber-bundles, and a number of other supporting files. All new files can be found in the "WM atlas" release. A description of the new files can be found in the "Contents_of_IIT_atlas_v4.0" document in the "Docs" section.

For the construction of the probabilistic HARDI connectivity-based 4D white matter labels, each gray matter label of the IIT gray matter atlas (with Desikan labels) was used as a seed and all other gray matter labels combined were used as targets for probabilistic tractography on the IIT HARDI template. The reason for constructing 4D instead of 3D white matter labels is that multiple fiber populations often share the same voxels, and therefore white matter voxels must be given the chance to have multiple labels.
Major fiber-bundles confidence maps were also added. These were generated using a well-established two ROIs approach on the HARDI tractography results.
None of the other components of the atlas have been modified since the last version. New HOW-TO documents dedicated to the WM atlas have also been added to the "Docs" section.
