In order to recognize the beauty and creativity of artistic renderings emerging from the neuroimaging community, we are launching the sixth annual Brain-Art Competition.

Countless hours are devoted to the creation of informative visualizations for communicating neuroscientific findings. The Brain-Art Competition aims to recognize this often unappreciated aspect of the publication process, and highlight the artistic creativity of our community.

We are inviting researchers to submit their favorite unpublished works for entry. Both team and single-person entries are welcomed. The competition will have six award categories:

- Best Representation of the Human Connectome
- Best Abstract/Freestyle Brain Illustration
- Best Image Resulting from an Error or Bug
- Best Animation/Video Illustration of the Brain
- Best Brain Icon
- Special Topic: Static Image of Brain Dynamics

The last two categories are new additions for the 2016 competition:

'Best Brain Icon' aims for submissions of icons, illustrations, logos — essentially, any line art images that could arguably represent a brain-related topic. Let's help generate a repository for the world's ever-growing brain initiatives!

'Special Topic: Static Image of Brain Dynamics' aims for submissions of static images that convey changes in any aspect of the brain over time. The submission could represent moment-to-moment functional dynamics or alterations that occur across a lifespan — anything that introduces the fourth dimension onto the page.

Submission Deadline: 11:59PM CDT, Wednesday, June 15th, 2016

Award Notification: Monday, June 27th, 2016
