BIS on remote X server
I am using BIS 3.01 running on a Linux 12.04 LTS. I have trouble
when running on a remote X server. BIS starts up fine but
when I tried to open the Electrode Editor, or load an image,
that's when error occurs (example error messages below). If I run BIS on the console, these error do not occur.
Since I have tried a couple different X servers, I doubt the issue is with my X servers. I suspect it may have something to do
with how BIS is installed or how it interacts with X. Is one able to run Bioimage Suite on a remote X server?

BIS on remote X
server
Jeff,
This is an Xserver issue. What X-server are you using? Does it have OpenGL (GLX) support? One way to test this is to run glxgears (a simple OpenGL demo) and see if this works first before you get into "bigger" programs.
Even if you do get remote display working the performance will be significantly inferior for 3D rendering

RE: BIS on remote X server
Dear Xenios,
Thanks for your feedback. Clearly the error messages point to an X-related issues, but I am surprised that two well-known packages on two different host platforms are both broken: X-Win 32 2010 on a Windows XP and XQuartz 2.7.6 on OSX 10.6. By the way, glxgears works in both instances.
I wonder if there is something about the installation of BIS that could contribute to this error.
Thanks for the tip about performance considerations. I will consider installation BIS on my Mac.
Best,
Jeff
