Schizophrenia image segmentation
Hi all!
I want to segment the lateral ventricles from Schizophrenic MRPAGE images and compare its size with a healthy age matched one using MATLAB 2013 and SPM8. Does SPM8 support dcm and jpg formats? I'm new to SPM and would like to know its features that would serve my purpose.

Hi,
Spm 8 and 12 support nii format therefor any Dicom images must first convert to nifti. You can use any Dicom converter like MRIcron to make nifty format of spm ( usually with no compression and 3D).

RE: Schizophrenia image segmentation
You can try with FreeSurfer, it will give you the volume of the
lateral ventricles and the total estimated intracranial volume, so
you will be able to normalize them. Then, you extract the volumes
from all your subjects in an excel file, so you will be able to
make your own stats (Matlab, excel, etc). However, you can use Qdec
from FreeSurfer to analyze the data.
