Correct.
1) for alignment of the surfaces only rigid alignment is performed
2) for the correspondence of the surfaces (the surfaces themselves are unchanged), SPHARM computes a spherical mapping. That correspondence, when compared across different surfaces, is of nonlinear/deformable nature, though no deformable registration is computed as such.
