Just a quick note to dispel a misunderstanding that is unfortunately common in academic circles, when it comes to the term "Commercial" use.

Contrary to common belief, the activities of non-profit organizations are indeed Commercial activities.

That is, the fact that many Universities and research centers are non-profit organizations, does not make them non-commercial organizations.

This means that works that are licensed under CC Non-Commercial licenses are not available to use by Universities.

The duality "Research vs Commercial" is also poorly defined (e.g. Most Fortune 500 companies do Research).

In order to maximize the public benefit of data distribution it is important to have clarity on the actual implications of the Licensing terms.
