<html><head></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; ">Dear Hubs,<div><br></div><div>There has been a lot of great things happening at The Neuro Bureau, unfortunately soo much that we have been to busy to communicate. I would like to correct that now, and get everyone up to speed on the Neuro Bureau's HBM initiatives.</div><div><br></div><div>Things happening at HBM:</div><div>1. Art Exhibition - <i>Neurocartographies:</i> Thanks to the efforts of Daniel and Pierre, OHBM has officially sanctioned our art exhibition and is giving us space for free. 10 artists are sending artwork for the show. The exhibition will run for the length of the conference.</div><div><br></div><div>2. Brain-Art Competition: Hopefully everyone has heard about the brain-art competition that we are hosting. The submission deadline has passed, but we are still accepting some more entries. We currently have had at least 45 submissions, spanning four different categories. The winners of the competition will be announced at the Cirque du Cerveaux Gala. There will also be an onsite hand-drawn brain competition. <a href="http://www.neurobureau.org/BrainArt/Competition.html">www.neurobureau.org/BrainArt/Competition.html</a></div><div><br></div><div>3. Cirque du Cerveaux Gala: Thanks largely to the efforts of Daniel, we will be throwing a HUGE party at the national fine arts museum in Quebec (<a href="http://www.mnba.qc.ca/Home.aspx">http://www.mnba.qc.ca/Home.aspx</a>). The party is quite expensive and is being underwritten by several institutions. We will have 1200 drink tickets to distribute, then after that, cash bar. The party is scheduled for the evening of July 28th. We have enough outdoor and indoor accommodations for almost the entire conference. But after 11:00 PM the party is restricted to being solely indoors, and limited to 1500 attendees, but that is when the dj starts spinning. There will a brief presentation during the party where we will announce the winners of the art competition.</div><div><br></div><div>4. Stereoscopic images: The Neuro Bureau will be distributing red/cyan 3D glasses to all of the conference attendees. As part of this initiative we are encouraging everyone to include a stereoscopic image in the posters and talks. Gonzalo has written a short tutorial for making these types of images (<a href="http://www.nitrc.org/plugins/mwiki/index.php/neurobureau:StereoImages">http://www.nitrc.org/plugins/mwiki/index.php/neurobureau:StereoImages</a>). If you include an image on your poster please post your poster information on the forum (<a href="http://www.nitrc.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=2118">http://www.nitrc.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=2118</a>).</div><div><br></div><div>5. SWAG: The flyers for the art part, exhibition, and the glasses will be distributed with the conference registration packets. Additionally we will have Neuro Bureau buttons to hand out.</div><div><br></div><div>We are very excited about all of these initiatives, and have come a long way toward getting everything set up. Now we need your help!</div><div><br></div><div>1. We need people to help setup and tear down the art exhibition. We are planning to set everything up on June 26th before the opening party. This party will probably be one of the busiest time for the exhibition. Additionally, each night we will need to move the art pieces into a secured room. Heather Schafer (my sister and TNB legal council) has graciously volunteered to woman the exhibition during most of the conference. But we hope that other members will have a presence at the exhibition during other times. Bring over your friends and colleagues! Also we need volunteers to give Heather a break every once in a while.</div><div><br></div><div>2. We need volunteers to judge submissions. Daniel, Pierre, and I have been receiving the submissions, so it will probably be best if other people judge them. This will allow the judging to take place anonymously.</div><div><br></div><div>3. We need volunteers to help make sure the party runs smoothly. We will be handing out drink tickets by the door. While I am will to do this for part of the night, I am hoping that we can split this up amongst different members of the bureau.</div><div><br></div><div>4. We need you to add stereoscopic images to your posters and to encourage others to do the same. We want this effort to be successful. There will be nothing cooler than looking out at a crowd during an oral presentation and seeing a sea of 3D glasses!</div><div><br></div><div>5. We will provide each one of you with some buttons, please hand them out! HBM is one of the best marketing opportunities for the Bureau. </div><div><br></div><div>Overall, we would like for you to serve as ambassadors for the Bureau during the conference. Please identify yourself with the Neuro Bureau, and tell others about it. Several of us are attending the post doc/grad student social on Monday night, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=227612400586622">https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=227612400586622</a>. This will be a great opportunity to interact with people that are just like us and encourage them to embrace principles of open neuroscience and nomadic life styles.</div><div><br></div><div>Please respond to the group and volunteer for some of these responsibilities.
