This is the first such template tailored specifically for the DTI study of normal aging and disease among the elderlies, such as dementia. The template is constructed from 51 normal elderly subjects (65-83 years old, 21 males and 30 females) drawn from the IXI brain database developed jointly by Imperial College of Science Technology & Medicine and University College London. It has been optimized for use with DTI-TK's registration and spatial normalization pipeline. Further detail can be found in the ISMRM abstract included as part of the template distribution.
