The membership will further INCF’s mission to coordinate neuroinformatics research and infrastructure while broadening its involvement with the global neuroscience community and activities represented by IBRO. Incorporated in 1961, IBRO has grown to
encompass 84 member societies in 61 countries, with a current membership of over 75,000 neuroscientists. At the time of its founding, no other global associations for neuroscience existed, and IBRO came to serve an important function as a builder of bridges between researchers in different countries.

Today, IBRO is well known for its efforts to foster neuroscience research and education. The organization's grants and fellowships facilitate travel and relocation for young researchers, especially from less well-funded countries. The IBRO education programme runs courses on various aspects of neuroscience all over the world, and has a particularly important role in Africa, Asia and South America. IBRO also has an official scientific publication, the biweekly journal Neuroscience.

The 50th anniversary of IBRO will be celebrated at its 8th World Congress in Florence, Italy, July 14-18, where INCF will be present as an exhibitor. Come meet us at booth 35!
