NITRC News Group Forum: automated-analysis-of-imaging-data--from-nano-to-macro

Organizer: NeuroInformatics.NL; program committee Anna Vilanova, Rembrandt Bakker, Bart ter Haar Romenij, Paul Tiesinga

High troughput data acquisition systems for neural tissue imaging have become very powerful and widely available. The potential for scientific breakthroughs is enormous, but there is a show stopper: the human in the image analysis loop. This workshop focuses on how far we can get with fully automated analysis algorithms that turn terabytes of data into comprehensive tracts and structures. We look at data obtained at different scales, with MRI scanners, light microscopes and electron microscopes. The goal is to find out what works, what doesn't, and what is still under development. Can we get the human out of the loop?
