The UK non-profit Software Sustainability Institute has launched a petition to and for everyone in the research community - from researchers to funders - to recognize the fundamental role software has in research. The petition also encourages researchers to spend time learning about software and to consider hiring software developers for software-reliant projects, and asks that research software developers be recognized and rewarded for their contributions to science.
