  <title>NITRC News Group Forum: brain-art-competition-2015-open-for-submissions-</title>
  <link>http://www.nitrc.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=5043</link>
<description>In order to recognize the beauty and creativity of artistic renderings emerging from the neuroimaging community, we are launching the fifth annual Brain-Art Competition.

Countless hours are devoted to the creation of informative visualizations for communicating neuroscientific findings. The Brain-Art Competition aims to recognize this often unappreciated aspect of the publication process, and highlight the artistic creativity of our community.

We are inviting researchers to submit their favorite unpublished works for entry. Both team and single-person entries are welcomed. The competition will have six award categories:

- Best Representation of the Human Connectome
- Best Abstract/Freestyle Brain Illustration
- Best Image Resulting from an Error or Bug
- Best Animation/Video Illustration of the Brain
- Special Topic: Best Multimodal Brain Illustration
- Best ‘Under 14’ Brain Illustration

The 'Special Topic' this year highlights an important challenge in current neuroimaging data visualization: simultaneously presenting several overlapping data types in a single brain image.

In addition, this year we are opening the 'Under 14' category open to all those 14 years old or younger who would like to share their depictions of brain’s structure and function.

Submission Deadline: 11:59PM CDT, Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015

Award Notification: Monday, June 15th, 2015
