About the inclusion of negative results
Dear experts:
I have a question about the inclusion of negative results. SDM can include the negative results (i.e., those that did not survive statistical correction or showed no group differences) in the meta-analysis. I was wondering how the effect size of the study without coordinates was calculated. Or were they included only to enlarge the sample size?
I would appreciate if anyone could help me with this question.

Sincerely yours,
Yingxue Gao

RE: About the inclusion of negative results
Dear Dr Gao

In the previous version of SDM (ES-SDM), the effect size of a study with no results was conservatively assumed to be null. In the current version (SDM-PSI), the effect size is imputed many times using MLE techniques similar to those of MetaNSUE.

With the best wishes,

Joaquim
