After reviewing the forum and reading Dr. Castanon's 2022 paper on MVPA, I want to confirm my basic understading of an MVPA analysis I did. Using the recommended amount of components, I calculated an MVPA for my resting state data, then did a between condition contrast Pre(-1) and Post(+1). Please help me determine if my understanding is correct:

Generally: MVPA shows patterns of connectivity that best describes heterogeneity in functional connectivity. In other words, the resulting significant results shows the pattern of connectivity that best differentiates these two conditions.

Positive Results: Here's where I get confused! I think the clusters showing postive values -- in red -- are these the areas that have patterns of connectivity that are most associated with the post condition, since the contrast was defined this way? OR, are these the areas that, across participants, significantly increase in connectivity?

Negative results: Same for the negative results: Are the clusters in blue areas that display patterns of connectivity most associated with the pre condition (-1)? Or, are these areas that have signficantly decreased connectivity in the post condition, relative to the pre-condition?
