PANDA on MacOS
Greetings:
I am trying to run PANDA on MacOS 10.9 (MATLAB 2012b, PSOM 1.0.2, FSL 5.0.5). When using the DTI pipeline, the batch process begins for subject 00001 with 31 steps. On job "dcm2nii_dwi", processing status never changes from "wait". Providing PANDA with DICOM files or already-converted NIFTI files results in the same "wait" status on this job, even if the process is left running for hours. The log files are always empty. I checked to ensure FSL programs could be called from the MATLAB instance, and they work fine. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to fix this issue?
Thank you,
Ronald Anderson

RE: PANDA on MacOS
Follow-up:
The issue originated from a problem with "com.apple.atrun.plist" on the Mac in question. It seems corruption occurred after an OS update and the module was not loading properly. After correcting this problem, PANDA is running as expected.
Best,
Ronald Anderson

RE: PANDA on MacOS
Dear Anderson,
Thanks for your interest in PANDA.
If you read the installation part of PANDA manual carefully, you will know why.
Please input this command in the terminal of MAC, then PANDA will run smoothly.
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.atrun.plist
Of note, you only need run it one time.
If you have any problems again, please contact us.
Best,
Zaixu

Zaixu:
Thank you for your speedy reply and attempt to help. I already fixed the issue. I installed PANDA back in late 2012 and it was working properly for over a year. I followed the manual carefully (including the terminal command you mentioned) when setting up the software and never encountered a problem until recently.
It took me a while to realize that com.apple.atrun.plist service was no longer running properly on the computer, most likely corrupted after an update to the operating system. Once I repaired that issue, PANDA started working again as expected.
I have resolved the issue and no longer have any issues with PANDA. I would have deleted the original forum post, but that option was not available. At the very least, this should help others in the future if they encounter similar behavior. I will say in passing that I have found PANDA a great tool for streamlining DTI analysis and am grateful it has been made available on NITRC.
Best regards,
Ronald Anderson
