Artifact Detection - default settings?
Hi All,

Our lab uses the ART toolbox in SPM to identify movement outliers. We noticed when we run ART for any of our subjects, we do not get the prompt for choosing whether or not we want to "drop the first scan of each session". Although the program runs to completion producing the appropriate .mat files, our lab was wondering if the option for dropping the first scan of each session is "No" as a default setting.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Zainab

RE: Artifact Detection - default settings?
Hi Zainab,

Yes, the option to explicitly drop the first scan of each session is actually no longer available in the last few versions of ART (if you try to set this option in your .cfg files the option will be disregarded and you will get a warning indicating that this is no longer supported). If you wish to explicitly exclude the first few scans from your analyses you may indicate this by manually adding them to the 'all outliers' box (and in this way they will be treated as outlier scans and effectively removed from your subsequent analyses)

Hope this helps
Alfonso
