DTI
Hello GIFTI Team,

We are getting ready to display DTI data in our Caret software. Our intention is to display the DTI vectors on both surfaces and volume slices. And, or course, we intend to store the DTI vectors in the GIFTI file format using NIFTI_INTENT_VECTOR.

The DTI data originates in 4 "single brick" volume files containing the X, Y, and Z components of the unit vector and the magnitude of the vector. A mask will be applied to the volume and those vectors that are within the mask will be extracted into six to ten components that we will place into the GIFTI file. These components are the X, Y, and Z coordinates of the vector's origin and the X, Y, and Z components of the vector with the magnitude applied. In addition, we may add three components that range 0 to 1 and contain the color components for the vector and a "thickness".

Is anybody else using GIFTI for storing vector data at this time? Is our approach to using GIFTI reasonable?

Ziad - In the email summarizing the previous GIFTI conference call you mentioned that you had some slides from ISMRM regarding DTI. Where can I find them?
