Looking for a new computer for neuroimaging analysis
Hi there,

Does anyone have suggestions for specs on a new computer for neuroimaging analysis? Looking to be able to do segmentation analysis etc, ideally under 3000 USD....

Thanks, any advice would be much appreciated!

Hello,

This is not a direct answer to your question but just wanted to let you know that we run the Neuroscience Gateway (NSG) http://www.nsgportal.org/
which provides various computational neuroscience and data processing tools made available on supercomputers. This is free and open to any academic and non-profit organization researchers from US and outside of US. List of tools available are listed here http://www.nsgportal.org/software.html

Thanks.

I’m not a specialist in image analysis, but I have basic knowledge in computer.
With 3000 dollar, a wide range of combinations for the computer is available. From my perspective, large memory and better CPU have higher priority. (Most analysis softwares use cpu. If the software you work with support GPU acceleration, buy a compatible fast one.)
I built mine as follow: 7940x, 4*16GB, 970 evo 512GB, gtx 1060, evga 1000w psu.
