RE: ICA subjects
Dear Amy,

There is no "minimal" number of subjects needed to perform ICA analyses, as ICA can be (and often are) run on single-subject data without a problem. The only limitation with small sample sizes is that the resulting components will be somewhat specific to your sample (in the same way that single-subject ICA components are somewhat specific to that subject). In practice and beyond ICA, this limitation is generally shared with any group-level analysis on small samples, where the results are more likely to be influenced by specific characteristics of your sample compared to similar analyses on larger and more heterogeneous samples.

Hope this helps
Alfonso

Dear Alfonso,

I hope this finds you well.

Could you please clarify whether there is a minimum number of subjects needed to perform ICA analysis?

I need this information for a reviewer for one of my dissertation papers.

Thanks,
All the best,
Amy
