In case some of you missed that post on the NITRC website (see forwarded
message below). It would be great if somebody from the Neurobureau could
attend. I unfortunately won't be able to make it. I believe the stuff we're
doing on the ADHD200 competition is very relevant in a way.

Best regards,

Reproducible Research Workshop:
Tools and Strategies for Scientific Computing

http://www.mitacs.ca/goto/amp_reproducib... [1]" target="_blank">
http://www.mitacs.ca/goto/amp_reproducib... [2]

July 13-16, 2011
University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Organizers aim in this workshop to gather speakers to discuss BEST PRACTICES
for "REPRODUCIBLE RESEARCH": The idea that research contributions in the
computational sciences involve not only publication of an article in an
academic venue, but also release of sufficient components of the
software and data such that the results claimed in the publication can
be reproduced and extended by other scientists.

The first step in reproducible research is to ensure that the
developer can reproduce and easily build upon his or her own results.
There are many well established tools and techniques available for
software and data development and management, and the first day of the
workshop will be an introduction to the most useful among them -- a
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT BOOTCAMP if you will.

Description of the forum:

Organizers are inviting a number of people from the editorial boards of
journals, leadership
positions in professional societies, and program managers from funding
agencies. Our goal is to facilitate a discussion of issues such as:

* What is the meaning of "reproducible research" in computational science?
* How is computational research best preserved?
* What policies will encourage reproducibility?
* What should journals require and/or provide to accompany computational
publications?
* Should funding agencies support public databases for code and data?
