[Neurobureau-hubs] next large group call

Hi everyone,
One take home message from the conversations we had at the bbq was that
while the neurobureau is an organisation that promotes data and methods
sharing, the organisation itself is not open. In the sense that membership
is by invitation only, without any clearly laid out application process.
There were also various (albeit jokey) "explanations" for what the Bureau is
about that I heard that evening, and some of them were seemingly at odds
with the mission statement on the nitric website...
I have not contributed much to the work for HBM 2011 which was an impressive
success, and I also understand that having too much red-tape early on
stifles the process of getting things going. I also think it should sit with
those who have put in the work in to decide where to go from here.
I would love to hear their vision of what they would like the Neuro Bureau
to be in five years from now, and how they see the power and control of the
organisation being structured. Power and control are hard words to place
against a backdrop of "open neuroscience", but ignoring these elements won't
make them go away. I'd feel more comfortable knowing more about what the
plans are to steer the Neuro Bureau through its maturational process.
With best wishes,
Oliver
