Hi all,
Just wanted to let you know about a new platform (NeuroSynth) we've
been developing for automatic extraction and synthesis of published
neuroimaging findings. We currently have a live preview up at
http://neurosynth.org. The site provides access to, and visualization
of, the results of hundreds of automated meta-analyses of the fMRI
literature, based on methods described in an in press Nature Methods
paper (email me if you'd like a preprint). The online feature set is
currently somewhat limited, and image downloads are disabled until
official launch, but we intend to expand on the functionality
considerably in the coming months. Any comments/criticism/suggestion
are very welcome; the site will probably be up for the next week or so
before I take it down for some more work.
I also have an ulterior motive for releasing this right now (while
it's still buggy and feature-limited): we're about to submit an NIH
proposal to support further development of the underlying software
platform, and one of the things I'd like to be able to show is that
there will be demand for this kind of tool in the imaging community.
So I'd very much appreciate it if anyone who has a couple of minutes
and thinks this could be useful could write a short testimonial/letter
of support explaining why you think this kind of work should be done.
Nothing complicated, just a few sentences would be great. I'm going to
collate all the responses I get together and attach them to the
proposal.
The project blog (http://blog.neurosynth.org) gives some more
information about the work we're proposing to in the grant and where
we'd like this to go. The major focus is going to be on moving the
analysis platform online so that users can do custom meta-analyses
in-browser, upload new images and have them instantly decoded, and so
on. I'm keeping a long list of features to add, so let me know if you
have other ideas!
Please feel free to forward this on to other people who you think
might be interested, and let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Tal
