Hi,
I would like to ask about the rationale behind nutmeg installation
instructions wrt to spm_flip_analyze_images. It seems that nutmeg has
a very strong opinion about the value returned by this function.
In SPM, this function is called only in code paths that read non-NIFTI
analyze files. For any kind of .hdr file that has NIfTI information,
the flip setting is not considered at all. The same holds for .nii
files. It is not used while writing either, since all data are written
as NIfTI. Thus, the only purpose of this file is to inform SPM about a
(lab-dependent) default setting how existing non-NIfTI analyze images
are stored on disk. I.e. NIfTI images are read, displayed, written in
exactly the same way regardless of the setting in
spm_flip_analyze_images.
I am not sure whether this would warrant nutmeg to care about
spm_flip_analyze_images that much.
I'd love to read some nutmeg expert comments on this.
Best regards,
Volkmar
