Summary: more information Use Eclipse SWT for JIST user interface |
| Detailed description |
In the next version/generation
of JIST, it would be great if the UI components were built from
Eclipse's Standard Widget Toolkit ( http://www.eclipse.org/swt/). This would add extensive
functionality, enhance usability, make the application look more
"professional," and enable JIST to eventually integrate with
Eclipse.

I'm also looking for
volunteers in the CS dept :-). I would be
willing to spend a little time to add a view for
ParamCollection
that uses an ExpandItem ( http://www.eclipse.org/swt/widgets/).
The module parameter pane becomes unnavigable if there are a
lot
of modules in the layout. Also if you plan on rewriting the
library, consider using the tree widget to provide content
filtering and searching.

For now, a high priority of mine is to rewrite the library
structure
and layout io so that it is easier to update modules and not
break
layouts.
