| Detailed description |
Hi
I have 2 questions.
1. Is is possible to have a custom domain name associated with my
NITRC site: http://connectir.projects.nitrc.org?
2. I would like to rsync my html site to nitrc but whenever I
execute the following command on my computer: "rsync -avz --delete
_site/ czarrar@www.nitrc.org:/home/groups/connectir/htdocs"
I get the following error below:
protocol version mismatch -- is your shell clean?
(see the rsync man page for an explanation)
rsync error: protocol incompatibility (code 2) at
/SourceCache/rsync/rsync-40/rsync/compat.c(61) [sender=2.6.9]
Any ideas? I tried to google various solutions but none of them
worked.
Thanks
Zarrar

That's awesome. The rsync
works perfectly.
Looking forward to the custom domain name working.
Thanks!

Behind the scenes is a tech
team that's more clever than me and managed to get rsync working
(thanks, Butch!).
We're working on the custom domain name; I'm marking this item a
feature request.

Sorry I meant if I could
associate a custom domain name like http://www.connectir.org to my NITRC site
connectir.projects.nitrc.org.
Thanks!

It appears that you found how
to create connectir.projects.nitrc.org; for reference the
documentation is here:
http://www.nitrc.org/plugins/mwiki/index...
rsync requires ssh access to the remote machine; since the accounts
on NITRC's host are restricted and don't allow ssh access, rsync
won't work. You can sftp to NITRC (though your client might not
allow analogues to rsync's -a and --delete).
