Cannot access PING dataset

Detailed description

Hi there, I am having troubl eaccessing the data repository for PING. From this page: http://www.nitrc.org/docman/?group_id=57... : I select "image repository" (Pic 1), and receive this error message "We are unable to provide the requested data. Either you have encountered a link to erroneous data, or this user account (guest) does not have access to this data. Please login with a different account or contact the source of the data to gain access." (Pic 2)
Clicking on Image Repository seems to log me out, as I am logged in before that but after am just as a guest. I definitely have access as I was using the dataset before your servers went down.
Hope you can help,
Amy Manson

As admin, I have capability if necessary to log in as a user.  Once I logged in as "amymanson" user, I was able to:
  • From the NTIRC Home page, select Tools & Resources -> Image Repository
  • From the resulting XNAT page, hit the "Browse" menu -> Projects -> "Pediatric Imaging, Neurocognition, and Genetics (PING) Study"
This leads me to the screenshot that was attached.  So it appears that your user does have permission to access PING (before I updated the permissions I got an error page). If you follow the same sequence does it lead you to the PING data?

(It looks like you attempted to follow the link from the PING project page, which is still broken...)

I'm still getting an error message (see pic4)

You should now be able to access the PING study. Our user sync script is getting permission errors after the XNAT upgrade, so we are still trying to fix it.  So I manually added you to the project on XNAT.

Ironically, now that you are a member of PING, The project will not appear in the default list of projects after you log into NITRC-IR.  This is because we are accidentally listing "other projects".   However, if you click on the XNAT "Browse" menu, PING appears as an option.  We have opened bug tickets to resolve each of these issues.

Getting a different message now. Not sure if this helps you at all, but Pic3, attached, is what I get now when trying to access the PING database.

As an update: Your account had two issues
  • With XNAT 1.7, accounts now need to verify the email (so we were able to update the database to mark your account has having a verified account).
  • Our XNAT synchronization script notes that you should have access to PING, but the automated command to insert you into the PING group is failing, so we are currently looking as to why
So that's why our unit testing didn't find anything (since we tested with our rather old accounts and a brand new account). So back to sleuthing...

FYI, I am now able to fully replicate your bug:  With the protected member accounts, when you go to click the PING project, it flings you out of being logged in.  Now to diagnose what's happening...

Sorry, it's still asking me to login, then not allowing me to.

Aha.  I cannot fix the "Image Repository" link directly because it is generated automatically.  It should be: http://www.nitrc.org/xnat/login_return.php?return_to=/ir/app/action/DisplayItemAction/search_value/PING/search_element/xnat:projectData/search_field/xnat:projectData.ID

Correct.  But if you click on http://www.nitrc.org/xnat/login_return.php?return_to=/ir/app/template/Search.vm/node/projectData.a (this is a special link that includes the single sign on), from *that* page you should be given a list of data sets including PING.  If you click on the PING dataset there, can you then access it?

I'm going to see if I can fix the PING Image Repository link now...

I am logged in until I click "Image repository" from the PING page, when I am asked to login again, but it doesn't let me.

(Sorry for the typo, I meant the "NITRC-IR" icon in the upper left of the header)

Ah... the link I gave you assumes you are already logged into XNAT (we have a single sign on mechanism).

If you are logged into NITRC and use the top level menu to go to "Tools &a Resources" -> "Image Repository". (Or click on the NITRC-IT icon in the upper left corner of our header, and then navigate to PING in the list of image sets are you then able to access it?

Tried the link and still having the same issue. The site requests me to login again, then when I click member login I am redirected to the homepage (http://www.nitrc.org/ir/app/template/Ind...) but still not logged in.

We recently upgraded XNAT to 1.7, and it appears that the URL from the "Image Repository" link from the PING project menu needs to be updated. Can you please try http://www.nitrc.org/ir/app/action/Displ... ?
