Downloading Nightly SVN Tree Snapshot, downloads something else

Detailed description

Hi,

We have software on nitrc.org name Homer2 (URL: https://www.nitrc.org/projects/homer2/). I want to give users the option of downloading the latest SVN revision by using the links

Source Code --> [Download The Nightly SVN Tree Snapshot]

without having to install SVN software. This is important because most of our users are non-technical.

However when I go to click the link myself, an executable release package that I uploaded months ago is downloaded instead. No source code or folder structure from latest SVN revision.

My questions are:

a) Am I correct in assuming that the link [Download The Nightly SVN Tree Snapshot] is for downloading the latest SVN revision (without having to use SVN commands) ?
b) If the above is correct, is the fact that I get something else a NITRC bug or something I have to configure so that the link points to the right place?
c) If the above is correct, how would I do that?

Would greatly appreciate any help and advice...

Jay

We've increased the temporary disk space, which we believe will solve the problem.  Please will you check things are working on your end?

The base problem here has been intermittently running out of temporary disk space when generating the SVN tarball, and indeed that happened again January 11.  We're going to get some more space on line next week and *then* it should be "no more problem."  I'll keep you posted.

Hi Christian,

Thank you very much for following up.

So the answer to whether this is working for me is: I'm not yet sure.

I tried it about a month ago. It worked great, downloaded the whole svn homer2 project. So I thought, "no more issue".
However I tried it again on Jan 11, 2018 (7 days ago) and again I got a truncated tar file (2k bytes).
Finally I tried it again today after getting your follow-up email and it now works again.

Any idea what happened Jan 11? More importantly, do you think it will it keep on working, like it did today - so that I could point users to that link with confidence?

Thanks again,

Jay

We did find an issue with the SVN tarball packer that should be fixed now.  Please will you try again?

Hi Christian,

Thanks for your response and confirming what my hunch was.

Thanks,
Jay

Answers to your questions are:

a) Yes, correct.
b) No, it should work without further action.

When I try to reproduce this, the tarball I download is truncated, so this is clearly a bug on our end.  I've opened an internal ticket to address this.
