I tried using both Safari and Google Chrome on my macOS laptop to
edit my media wiki. While I could edit the text, there was no way
to upload images as content.

We're still working on getting the GUI components to the wiki
working after the upgrade, but until then, are you able to use the
wikitext solution described at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Images? Basically you put
[[File:imagename.ext]]
in the wiki text, and once you've saved the changes, you can click
through to a page that will let you upload the image.
