Dear All,

In our continuing efforts to invigorate, legitimize and expand the capacity of The Neuro Bureau, we are preparing to file to become an official nonprofit organization on the federal level (501c3). Towards that aim, we need to create a first Board of Directors. Our aim is to build a Board that is committed to the goals of The Neuro Bureau and is willing to commit 5-10 hours per month to The Neuro Bureau’s activities. Primarily, we aim to meet as a Board once a month via technological means available to review and report progress. While project-specific committees will continue to be at the core of the Bureau’s activities, it is necessary to create this board to establish and maintain 501c3 status. Our goal is for the board to include either 5 or 7 members in this initial instantiation.

In the first year, (commencing with our first official Board meeting, which shall be scheduled and announced once the Board is formed) the Board of Directors will work on developing and implementing a Strategic Plan that identifies TNB’s short term and long term goals. The Strategic Plan is critical to our ability to secure grant funding for our various initiatives. The Board will also assist in the processing of making the organization visible in the research, humanities, academic and arts community, create and monitor the mission, develop policies and procedures, develop and execute long range plans, evaluate programs, oversee and potentially chair committees, and assist in securing and monitoring financing.

If you have the time and energy to assist with this process, please let us know by return email. For our Federal filings, we will need your full name, citizenship, and physical address (feel free to use your Office address).

While this may sound daunting, we hope to make the process as painless as possible. We have at least two organizations (Center for New Tech Enterprises and Notre Dame’s Center for Non Profit Development), which are eager to put the leg work behind the technicalities (drafting, business consulting, etc.) of the Strategic Planning Process and we will be looking to the Board primarily for input on strategy and vision.

Your nominations may be made sent by email to cameron.craddock at gmail.com. We ask that you please submit your information before February 27, 2012.

Regards,
