I do dislike how travis environments add a number of APT sources to a
variety of projects we (as well as probably majority) of people do not
care about, and do not just mirror/cache them to guarantee that they are
actually available. Failure to reach any of them leads to such errors.

then we might miss the moment when something actually does not work in
that script as expected and errors out. I would prefer to keep it that
way. As a remedy I am trying now
sed -i -e '/mongodb/d' /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*list
not sure if that would help but imho worth trying -- pushed into your
PR. If doesn't help, we will just happily reset --hard and push --force
to bring it into original not working state
