MRTool -cannot start in SPM12
I want to use the MRTool(https://www.nitrc.org/projects/mrtool/) toolbox to compute T1W/T2W ratio.

But I met some problems in installing it.

My MRtool directory is "E:\MATLAB\R2017a\toolbox\spm12\spm12\toolbox\MRTool".

First, I added this path into my Matlab R2017a with "add with subfolders..." and saved.

Then, I reloaded the path for SPM12 and reloaded Matlab.

Next, I started SPM, but I was not able to start the toolbox.

I even could not find MRTool in the “Batch Editor". ( SPM -> Tools -> MRTool)

the version of my software: matlab2017a, SPM12: v7487

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions you can provide in your free time.

RE: MRTool -cannot start in SPM12

Dear Leian,

first of all: If you copy the folder into the SPM toolbox subfolder, there is no need to explicitly set the path because it will be automatically prepended when starting SPM (if I remember correctly).

Do the files and folders of MRTool appear in the directory level directly under the MRTool folder level? If the files are hidden in another subdirectory instead (depending on how the archive was unzipped), SPM will not recognize the tbx_cfg_mrtool.m file appropriately.

Best wishes,

Marcel

RE: MRTool -cannot start in SPM12

Hi Marcel,

Thank you very much!  Your advice has been very helpful to me!

There are two subfolders in the mrtool-v1.4.3 folder, causing SPM to not recognize the “tbx_cfg_mrtool.m” file directly, which is the cause of the error, and then the smooth installation succeeded
