Hi,

I have had success with installing the brains2 64 bit rpm on a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit.
(Similar may work with 32 bit versions, I have not tested, worth a shot)
Here are the steps I took:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -y install alien
wget http://www.nitrc.org/frs/download.php/12...
sudo alien --scripts -i brains2-ExternalReleaseRedHatEnterpriseClient5.4-20091015-163633.x86_64.rpm
sudo echo "export PATH=$PATH:/opt/brains2/bin" >> /etc/profile
