## v1_Beta_20141216

This is a multi-mode (T1w and DTI) brain template of monkeys during late infancy (from 6 months of age to 16 months of age, postnatal), which will help spatial normalization, voxel-based and tract-based analyses in non-human primates.
Lots efforts were made to ensure their quality:
1) we manually skull-striped brains for all MRI&DTI data (120+ brains in total). The time-consuming procedure guaranteed more accurate brain extraction than automatic methods (3dSkullStrip or BET).
2) We had tested different spatial normalization tools, and the best ones were chosen to build the MRI (by ANTS) and DTI (by DTI-TK) templates.
3) We also made the high quality template-related files, including parcellation maps, tissue probability maps, inferior cingulum mask for the TBSS, and template for each time points.
Detailed information about monkeys and methods for building template can be found in:

## File descriptions
#####################
All_S6toS16_* --> These templates were builded based all scans (all monkeys and all time points) from 6 months of ages to 16 months. They are good representations for monkey brains during late infancy, and recommanded to used.
S* --> These templates were builded based scans from one particular time point. Note that S7 and S8 only had 10 monkeys scanned, while the S6, S10 and S16 had all 14 monkeys scanned.
parcellation_lables AND subcortical_lables --> These parcellation maps were derived from UNC Primate Brain Atlas. Several modifications were made, including manually subdividing the PFC into dosal PFC and ventral PFC.
All_S6toS16_ANTS_T1w_laplaciansharpen --> A version of T1w templates by applying a laplacian sharpening to the standard average, which highlighted regions of rapid intensity change and can enhance the contrast of boundaries between different tissues if images were well-aligned.
*_pCSF, *_pGM, *_WM --> tissue probability maps
*_DTITK_DTI_searchmask --> An inferior cingulum mask was manually drawn on the template space to facilitate FA projection of TBSS analysis because the inferior cingulum tract had no well-defined search direction for the projection due to its tubular skeleton topology. Note that the mask were drawn on the template of all scans, and transformed to templates of a particular time point.
