several questions
Dear Anton, Joaquim and users,
Thank you for this software! I already conducted the mean-analyses and Jackniffe analyses and I have some questions:
1.) When in the sdm_table you specify NA, how does the software interpret it?
2.) How to interpret the output of meta-regression (_z_0, _z_1, z_1mo) if you don´t have n1 and n2 but just one sample?
3.) Which is the minimum amount of experiments in order to perform a meta-analyses?
4.) I want to perform some subgroup analysis but it is not possible when I click mean, because there is no filter (after already performed the mean analyses). Where is the problem?
5.) Can I say that a subroup anaysis with one specific filter is the same as conducting a new meta-analyses with just the papers that I want from the desirable filter?
6.) Why is the default threshold 10 and the peak height 1?
Thank you in advance,
Monica

RE: several questions
Dear Monica,
hope this helps: ;-)
1.) When in the sdm_table you specify NA, how does the software interpret it?
If the variable is needed for the analysis, the study is discarded.
2.) How to interpret the output of meta-regression (_z_0, _z_1, z_1mo) if you don´t have n1 and n2 but just one sample?
_0 is the activation when the moderator is low, _1 is the activation when the moderator is high, and _1m0 is the effect of the moderator on the activation.
3.) Which is the minimum amount of experiments in order to perform a meta-analyses?
I cannot provide a simple answer. On the one hand, fewer studies are needed to detect large effect sizes and/or when large studies and/or SPM maps are included. On the other hand, any number I would say would be conventional. That said, I could think that 20 may be very Ok, 10 may be Ok, and 5 may be Ok if you have SPM maps... but other people may say other numbers.
4.) I want to perform some subgroup analysis but it is not possible when I click mean, because there is no filter (after already performed the mean analyses). Where is the problem?
To make a variable behaves as a filter, its values must be 1 or 0 (or NA).
5.) Can I say that a subroup anaysis with one specific filter is the same as conducting a new meta-analyses with just the papers that I want from the desirable filter?
Yes
6.) Why is the default threshold 10 and the peak height 1?
These values seem to provide good results in the validation study, but other values are possible.
