Is there any particular procedure to use IBSR data set in my journal publiishment.

Just make sure to cite the website (http://www.nitrc.org/projects/ibsr) and mention it in the acknowledgements.

RE: Permission to used IBSR data set
You do not need to get permission to use the IBSR data for publications because that is the purpose of this resource.  Below is the README file for the IBSRV2.  It is a little inaccurate because the data was moved to NITRC and you should reference the current link to the data.

Best wishes,

Andy.

* All Rights Reserved *

PLEASE REFER ALL REQUESTS FOR COPIES OF THIS DATA DIRECTLY TO THE IBSR:

http://www.cma.mgh.harvard.edu/ibsr/

BY USING THESE DATA, YOU AGREE TO 1) ACKNOWLEDGE that the data came from
the ibsr, and 2) PARTICIPATE in the ibsr by providing your resulting
segmentations for comparison and by providing (at least) a reference to
a description of your methods.

When publishing results using the data, acknowledge the source by including
the statement, "The MR brain data sets and their manual segmentations were
provided by the Center for Morphometric Analysis at Massachusetts General
Hospital and are available at http://www.cma.mgh.harvard.edu/ibsr/."

The purpose of this policy is to increase collaboration. These data
have been made available for research in automating segmentation.
Specifically, you may not use and may not allow these data to be used
for anatomical or morphological studies without explicit permission from
the copyright holder. You must also obtain permission before publishing
any image or segmentation data.

Andrew,

Thanks for sharing the README file.

There is a contradiction between your statement,
and the content of the README:

While the last line of the readme says:

"You must also obtain permission before publishing
any image or segmentation data."

This illustrates again,
why the attempts to impose restrictions on data utilization and detrimental to all efforts of data sharing.

Data should be made publicly available via CC0 Public Domain dedication licenses,

http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/...

for it to be useful to the public.

D'oh!  You're absolutely right, Luis.  I love it when people pay attention to the details.

I did not update the README files when I just copied the IBSR over to NITRC.  I don't know what to do about this inconsistency.  I don't have authority to change the "license" since it was created at Massachusetts General Hospital.  It costs so much to produce manual anatomical labels, the PIs that Dave Kennedy convinced to release data were mainly concerned that doing so might come back to hurt their ongoing research.  As the keeper of the IBSR web site, I always said yes anytime anybody asked if they could publish because the goal of the IBSR was to encourage academic uses of the data.

RE: Permission to used IBSR data set
Hello!

I was looking on this thread about using IBSR, I am just starting on this data set and still confused a bit. Andrew Worth thanks for sharing this README file. It gives me more idea now.
