If you just want to explore the images, you might consider using MRICron which can be found here:

http://www.mccauslandcenter.sc.edu/mricro/mricron/

Additionally, MRICron will allow you to overlay masks, convert into different format(s), and also supports batching. Finally it has a very intuitive layout (in my opinion) and can be quite a handy tool.
