Semipartial correlation- directional results?
Hi there,
I have a question in relation to to semipartial correlations. In my ROI-ROI results, I notice that the values are different in the two directions between a pair of comparisons (ie. M1-SMA does not produce the same values as SMA- M1).
I have read that this is due to the fact that the semipartial correlation is directional, however, what I can't find out is, can this directionality be interpreted in a manner like effective connectivity? Does this actually mean that we are testing the direction of the connectivity change, or is there some other explanation or interpretation?
Thank you in advance ,
Kathy
