Ratings/Long-term Prospects Comments:  Fills a niche that is not filled by anything else and would take longer to roll your own vs use what's provided. Future development plan looks like the project owners understand the limitations and want to fix them.

Version Reviewed:  1.5.3
Overall Ease vs. Functionality:  3 out of 5
Download/Installation Ease:  2 out of 5
Documentation/Support Quality:  2 out of 5
Ratings/Long-term Prospects Comments:  Difficult to install, setup, and diagnose. Documentation is quite comprehensive, but some crucial details aren't clear, and that can break things in subtle ways. On the other hand, this is apparently still the only available solution that does what it does, it is used by some big projects, and in that sense it should at least be a fairly safe bet in terms of long-term prospects.

Ratings/Long-term Prospects Comments:  Thanks to the great folks at Wash U and my hiring a full time IT savvy informatics person, we now have XNAT installed and are customizing it for our use. I am very enthusiastic about the powerful capabilities of this software to improve my management of my own lab data and even more enthusiastic about how it will help my multi-site imaging studies.
