* FOR HBM: An Event You Don't Want to Miss *

Dear all,

I am writing to
draw your attention to a social event that will be held at the OHBM conference
in Quebec City on Tuesday, June 28th, from 8PM to 3AM:

THE CIRQUE DU
CERVEAU GALA

Co-organized by
Daniel Margulies, Cameron Craddock, Pierre Bellec and the Neuro Bureau, and
powered by the Child Mind Institute, this year’s event will celebrate the
artistic creativity of the neuroscientific community. Located at the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec (http://neurobureau.projects.nitrc.org/BrainArt/Awards_Venue.html), the
gala will feature the 2011 Brain Art Competition award ceremony (http://neurobureau.projects.nitrc.org/BrainArt/Competition.html),
followed by a DJ and celebrations. If you missed out on the art competition –
no worries, there will be a door competition for the best hand-drawing of the
brain (materials for drawing will be provided; entries are to be drawn at the
event, not prior).

Built with the same
spirit of community and open neuroscience as the 2010 “Young & Restless
Beachside Gala” in Barcelona, this event will once again be open to all. And,
your first drink will be free!

Gala Schedule:

8PM: Doors open and
hors d'oeuvres served

9PM: Brain Art
Competition Awards ceremony

* DJ will follow
the award ceremony and continue until the end of the night *

The venue is a 20-minute
walk from the conference center.  See our flyer for more details (http://neurobureau.projects.nitrc.org/Ci...
; a hard-copy will be provided at the conference). If you got 3D glasses, you
may want to put them on to see an additional dimension emerge from the
flyer.  If not, no worries – we’ll provide you with a pair at the
conference.

This is a non-profit
event, powered by the Child Mind Institute (www.childmind.org),
with additional support from the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and
Brain Sciences, Montreal Neurological Institute, Unité de neuroimagerie
fonctionnelle, Centre de recherche de l'institut universitaire de gériatrie
de Montréal, the 1000 Functional Connectomes Project, and
the International Neuroimaging Data-Sharing Initiative (INDI).

Best,

Mike
