trouble installing version 3.01
Hi Xenios,
I'm having some trouble trying to install the latest version of BioImage Suite. I've got the beta version of 3 on my computer, and it works okay. I'm using Linux, Red Hat 6.0. When I try to run the installation script, I get:
BioImage Suite will be installed under target directory: /opt/bioimagesuite
Do you accept the license and install path? [Yn]:
y
Using target directory: /opt/bioimagesuite
Extracting, please wait...
tar: bioimagesuite3_base64/cmake28/doc/cmake-2.8/cmake.docbook: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: bioimagesuite3_base64/cmake28/doc/cmake-2.8/cmake.txt: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: bioimagesuite3_base64/cmake28/doc/cmake-2.8/cmsys/Copyright.txt: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: bioimagesuite3_base64/cmake28/doc/cmake-2.8/ccmake.txt: Cannot open: No such file or directory
etc. for hundreds of lines.
I have noticed that the 3beta version uses version cmake 2.6.
Can you please advise how I can get the 3.0 version installed?
Thanks,
Sandy

Is there a /opt directory on this machine? Do you have write
permissions to this? (You may need to do this as root)

Yes, there is an opt directory, and I have been using it for the
beta version of BioImage Suite. I do have permissions on opt.
Thanks,
Sandy

Weird .... we have not tested stuff on RHEL 6 to be honest, we
probably need to get a virtual machine in house and test it
directly. Give me a day or two.

Hi Xenios,
I managed to get the installation to work. Previously, I did not install using the sudo command. I appear to be up and running BioImage Suite 3.0 proper.
Thanks for your help.

Good. Let us know how it goes as we have not really tested this on
RHEL 6

One thing I have noticed is that the random closing of windows
(esp. with Brain Register) is still happening in this 3.0 version
of BioImages Suite. I will keep you posted if other oddities
pop up.

Sandy,
I have had the same trouble. Nothing fixed it. It only happens intermittently so I just learned to deal with it. Never could understand it. :)
Xenios,
Hope all is good with you and your work.

Gad,
Thanks for letting me know -- it's nice to know I am not alone! :) I am used to dealing with it from the Beta version.
