2009 Pittsburgh Brain Connectivity Competition Posted By: David Kennedy - Feb 12, 2009Tool/Resource: Conferences, Workshops and Meetings 2009 Pittsburgh Brain Connectivity Competition at OHBM Toward Mapping the Human Connectome Awards at Organization of Human Brain Mapping Workshop San Francisco June 22, 2009 Prizes: 1st $10,000; 2nd $5,000; 3rd $1,500 Board Choice, Neuroscience Prize: $2,500 For details see: http://www.braincompetition.org The goal of the competition is to advance imaging technology and create a human Connectome Map. Having an accurately segmented Connectome could dramatically accelerate human neuroscience understanding. The competition will provide comprehensive data of multiple high resolution diffusion (DWI 256d, and DSI 5 shell 514d), structural and functional data sets on 4 individuals to be the basis for brain segmentation, functional identification, and fiber tracings. Groups from all nations and disciplines are encouraged to participate. Awardees will be required to describe their methods, provide results, and either present the methods or provide written descriptions at the Competition Workshop at the Organization for Human Brain Mapping Meeting June 18-22, 2009 in San Francisco, California, USA. There will be a Webcast detailing rules and the data that can be viewed in real time (Monday February 9, 10 AM EST) or afterward at the website. This year’s competition follows on the heels of the successful 2006 and 2007 competitions. Past competitions generated wide interest (over 50,000 website hits and 273 groups in 31 countries participating). Entries will be evaluated by the 2009 competition Scientific Advisory Board.
