Thanks. This worked.

On my university's cluster I had to:

1. Install cmake locally (download, extract, copy to `~/.local/bin` etc.)
   
2. Activate modern gcc with `scl enable devtoolset-11 bash` (your sysadmin might choose their own scl collection name, not devtoolset-n)
