Importing custom ROIs in MNI space

Hi Alfonso and CONN community,
we would like to add custom ROIs (created by our lab) to a CONN project.
The default ROIs in CONN (white matter, gray matter, CSF, atlas, networks) are added automatically. Our additional ROIs are already defined in MNI space.

Can we import ROIs that are already in MNI space directly in the ROI tab?
Or do they need to be transformed to subject space before importing?
If we import ROIs in MNI space, does CONN transform them internally to match each subject?
We also have several other ROIs defined in MNI space that we would like to import.
Thank you for your help.

RE: Importing custom ROIs in MNI space

Hi Fabian,

yes you can import your ROI in MNIspace in the setup of CONN.

If you plan a group analysis, you need to normalize you subject images in the MNI space (with fmriprep before import in CONN or with the 'preprocessing' step inside CONN). Then your images will be in MNI space and so in the same space as your ROI.

if you plan to make only 1st level analysis (meaning at the individual level) you don't need to normalize subject images. but your ROI should be import in the subject space. I don't know if you can do it inside conn.

hope it helps,

Isabelle
