IMAG Futures Meeting: The Impact of Modeling on Biomedical Posted By: Nina Preuss - Nov 13, 2009Tool/Resource: NITRC Community The Interagency Modeling and Analysis Group IMAG) is holding an IMAG Futures Meeting on December 15-16, 2009 on the NIH Campus, Natcher Conference Center. This meeting will be open to the public to share the discussion of a working group who will deliberate on the impact of biomedical, biological and behavioral modeling. IMAG is comprised of program directors from eight government agencies in the U.S. and Canada. IMAG has promoted and supported a wide variety of modeling over the past six years, notably the multi-scale modeling initiative (originally a multi-agency FOA, and continued on by the different IMAG agencies through separate FOAs). This meeting is an opportunity for IMAG to assess to what extent computational modeling has succeeded or failed to make a difference in the broader research endeavor, and to discuss these issues in the context of current challenges and opportunities for biomedical, biological and behavioral modeling, see meeting Charge. Meeting discussions will be grouped by five biological scales: 1) Population; 2) Whole-Body; 3) Cell-Tissue-Organ; 4) Pathways and Networks; and 5) Atomic and Molecular. Please see the Agenda. All are invited to participate in this roundtable discussion through webcast and interactive media (http://videocast.nih.gov). Interested members of the community are also welcome to attend in person. Since space is limited, in-person attendance will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Please e-mail Ms. Stephanie Sabourin (stephanie.sabourin@nih.gov) to reserve a seat in the meeting room, or register your attendance via webcast.
