I am very happy to hear you found the bug and got the extraction to work. The issues with unexpected paths in a matlab environment are very common and for each of my own projects, I now have a specific path init function that calls "restoredefaultpath" and afterwards adds only the paths needed for the project.

Also, I use one separate copy of spm (and every other tool) per project.

BTW: The warning you got was only about the title printed, nothing to worry about!
