RE: Using entire freesurfer regions in seed-to-voxel FC analysis

Hi Kaitlin,

While Precuneus is a relatively large area widespread positive connectivity could also reflect an underlying issue with denoising, as insufficient denoising can often cause connectivity profiles to be biased towards positive values (as those connectivity profiles in your image appear to be). Could you perhaps check if the FC histogram plots during QC show similar potential biases towards positive connectivity?

Hope this helps

Alfonso

Hello,

Is it advisable to use entire FreeSurfer regions (e.g., I'm using Precuneus in one analysis in the attached image) in seed-to-voxel resting state second-level analyses? The reason I ask is because when I look at group-level FC results, it appears to cover the entire brain (see attached image). Is it better to use a small sphere (i.e., 5mm) around specific coordinates instead? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
