I encountered the same rainbow background today and it appears the answer is hidden in conn.m:
try, if
isequal(datestr(now,'mmdd'),'0401'),
conn_guibackground('setfiledefault',[],'True color'); end;
end
I am sure it will be back to it's normal background tomorrow ;-)
