RE: Using CONN in a block design task
Hi Jiook,
I would possible start with Fair et al. 2007 manuscript (A method for using blocked and event-related fMRI data to study “resting state” functional connectivity). Other groups including ourselves have explored connectivity during task conditions (e.g. Whitfield-Gabrieli 2010, Associations and dissociations between default and self-reference networks in the human brain), but I do not know of any manuscript that have explicitly investigated the sensitivity of functional connectivity measures for different task-related design parameters. In general, and because of the typically low-frequency nature of the functional associations (at least those characteristic of resting state), I would probably recommend using relatively large blocks if possible (larger than the optimal ~15s blocks recommended for standard functional analyses), when exploring task-related functional connectivity measures.
Hope this helps
Alfonso

Hi Alfonso,
I found that most of the refenreces for CONN are resting state studies.
I wonder if using this tool in a block design task has been validated. Is there any suggestion as to the requirement of study design (i.e., epoch lenght, iterations?) to get a maximum sensitivity of the data analysis using CONN?
Thanks,
Jiook
