RE: Beta values from first level analysis
Hey Kaitlin!

Ok So I made a spreadsheet of my 1-st Level values for a particular ROI, the PCC, per time point per participant.

To do this, open up one of your ROI files in the Data folder (e.g., ROI_Subject007_Session001.mat). To figure out which ROI you want the values for per time point, per participant, open 'names' and find the number of your ROI. In my case, my PCC ROI is number 129. With this number in mind, then open 'data', and open 129th matrix. This will give you a single column of values, for that participant for that ROI, one value per time point.

I'm attaching my spreadsheet. I got 191 timepoints, which is why I have 191 rows, and I have 24 participants, thus 24 columns.

I wonder if this was the correct file though to open and explore (the ROI one). If I go to the 1st-level folder and open up a 'resultsROI_Subject*Condition*.mat' file, and I look at the Z matrix, this seems like a matrix of ROI to ROI connectivity matrix with as many columns and as many rows as there are ROIs. No other files make sense to me for what you're looking for.

Let us know what you find and what worked : )

All the best,

Fred

Hey Kaitlin,

I'm not sure about numerical beta values. Have you tried exploring the other folders/.mat files? The DATA .mat file within the Data folder seems to provide some sort of matrix which might be connectivity values. There's also the ROI .mat files which seem to provide a single column of values, which might be beta values...

Sorry I can't be more helpful : /

Hi Fred,

Thanks for the info! I was actually wondering if there was some way to get quantitative beta values from the first-level analysis for each subject. I'm aware that the first-level folder contains Beta maps for each subject, but I am interested in getting actual values of these beta values. Do you have any suggestions/ideas?

Thanks for the help!
Kaitlin
